ONE welcomes appointment of Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala as Director-General of the World Trade Organization

Abuja – ONE Campaign welcomes the appointment of Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, as the new Director-General of the World Trade Organization.

Speaking on behalf of the Non-profit, ONE in Africa Executive Director Edwin Ikhuoria said: “Dr. Ngozi’s appointment at the WTO comes at a crucial period in our history where multi-lateralism has drastically declined and global cooperation on key issues needs to be revitalized. In particular, we welcome her continued leadership in the fight to end the Pandemic, and her calls for the whole world to have access to the tools needed to beat the virus. African voices, leadership and drive for a better world for all must be welcomed and encouraged. In this extraordinary time, we trust that her leadership as the first woman and African to lead the WTO will ensure that true global cooperation takes center stage again. We look forward to her great success at the WTO and wish her the very best in her new role.”
