ONE Africa Award 2016 Deadline Extended

Applications for Innovative Africa-Led, Africa-Driven Advocacy Projects now being accepted until December 2, 2016.

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – The deadline for applying for the 2016 ONE Africa Award has been extended until December 2, 2016.

Africa-led, Africa-driven organisations now have an additional week to submit their applications for consideration for the Award. The Award honours outstanding contributions by African based organisations leading the fight against poverty and preventable disease on the continent.

Now in its ninth year, The ONE Africa Award highlights and bolsters innovative, Africa-led and Africa-driven advocacy efforts that help advance one or more of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the world’s blueprint for fighting extreme poverty and disease. Civil society organisations, non-governmental organisations and other groups based in Africa that can demonstrate commitment and success in advocacy to promote the attainment of one or more of the SDGs should apply. ONE acknowledges and applauds the progress made by these organisations, and looks forward to the solutions for the challenges still ahead.

Previous ONE Africa Award winners include Support for Women in Agriculture and Environment (SWAGEN) of Uganda (2015); Friends of the Global Fund Africa (Friends Africa) of Nigeria (2014); Agricultural Non-State Actors Forum (ANSAF) of Nigeria (2014) Positive-Generation (PG) of Cameroon (2012); GF2D from Togo (2011); SEND Ghana (2010); SIDAREC of Kenya (2009); and Devcoms of Nigeria (2008).
