Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all

Many of us don’t think twice about turning on a tap to get clean water, but for 750 million people worldwide that’s not an option. And incredibly, more people have access to a mobile phone than a toilet – a staggering 2.5 billion don’t have decent sanitation facilities.

This isn’t just inconvenient – it’s deadly. Diseases caused by dirty water and poor sanitation kill a child every minute of the day. In parts of the world where clean water is hard to find, it’s overwhelmingly girls and women who spend hours every day walking miles to fetch it often at risk to their own security.

Achieving this goal could change that. It would not only reduce illnesses, help get more girls into school and free up women’s time, but could boost the global economy by $32 billion a year.

Stand as ONE

World leaders have agreed to 17 Global Goals that would mean a better life for all of us. The Goals are a plan to build a world where children don't go to bed hungry, where girls get the same opportunity to thrive as boys, and where people don't die of preventable diseases. It's one of the most incredible to-do lists ever written - but now we need to turn words into action.

As long as poverty, injustice and gross inequality exist in our world, none of us can truly rest.

Nelson Mandela

Mandela's words represent what it means to be a ONE member and at the birth of these ambitious new goals, we will not rest until they are achieved. Stand with over 9 million others and in Mandela's honour - pledge to use your voice. We know it has power to change lives and bring about a better world for all of us, as ONE.
