ONE welcomes confirmation of Samantha Power as USAID administrator

WASHINGTON — The ONE Campaign, the global anti-poverty and global health organization co-founded by Bono, released the following statement on the confirmation of Samantha Power as the next administrator of the US Agency for International Development.

Tom Hart, acting CEO at The ONE Campaign:

“Today’s strong bipartisan vote to confirm Samantha Power is both a testament to her impeccable qualifications and the steadfast support for international development.

“Administrator Power arrives at USAID at a challenging time. We’re at risk of seeing one pandemic with two futures: one for wealthy countries who can get vaccines and can afford economic stimulus and those who can’t. Meanwhile, we’re experiencing a resurgence of other deadly viruses like HIV, an increase in extreme poverty, and the growing need for greater pandemic preparedness.

“The ONE Campaign congratulates Administrator Power on her confirmation, and we look forward to working with her to ensure USAID continues its important work of saving lives, advancing America’s values, and bringing hope to all corners of the world.”
