ONE denounces White House’s reckless 11th hour attempt to slash foreign aid

WASHINGTON — Following reports that the Trump administration is preparing to make yet another attempt to cut billions in foreign aid funding already appropriated by Congress, The ONE Campaign issued the below statement:

Tom Hart, North America executive director at The ONE Campaign:

“The administration’s last-ditch attempt to cut foreign aid programs is reckless and would only further undermine US influence abroad. These Congressionally-authorized programs help fight the global pandemic and advance America’s values and foreign policy, national security and economic interests.

“Every prior attempt by this administration to cut foreign aid has been overwhelmingly rejected by Members of Congress, including many in the President’s own party. Congress must ensure this proposal meets a similar fate as the administration’s other feeble attempts to rescind foreign aid programs: the trash bin.”
