ONE reacts to abandoned rescissions package

WASHINGTON — The ONE Campaign released the following statement today on the Trump administration’s decision to abandon its plan to issue a rescissions package that would have slashed development funding.

Tom Hart, North America executive director at The ONE Campaign:

“This is the right ending to a charade that should have never happened. Development funding is not a handout, it’s a valuable tool to advance America’s values and foreign policy, national security and economic interests. ONE thanks Secretary Steve Mnuchin, Secretary Mike Pompeo, bipartisan lawmakers in Congress and the thousands of ONE members who spoke up in opposition to these cuts.

“The administration must now allow USAID and the State Department to continue their important work and cease the repeated attacks on development funding.”
