The ONE Campaign Applauds American Leadership on Global Fund, Highlights Need for Full Funding
WASHINGTON – The ONE Campaign welcomes the United States’ announcement of a $4.6 billion pledge to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria’s 8th replenishment. This commitment underscores the vital role America continues to play in protecting global health and advancing progress against the world’s deadliest infectious diseases.
Elizabeth Hoffman, Executive Director of North America at the ONE Campaign: “The renewed commitment demonstrates the effectiveness and success of the Global Fund in the fight against HIV, TB and malaria. I am pleased that Senior Official Jeremy Lewin highlighted the crucial role that the Global Fund plays in ensuring U.S. global health leadership and vowed to maintain the longstanding 1 to 2 pledging match. As we look ahead, the path to a fully resourced Global Fund remains with Congress. We will continue to encourage Congress to maintain strong support for the Global Fund and ensure the timely disbursement of existing funds.”
As the appropriations process moves forward, ONE urges Congress to:
- Maintain strong support for the Global Fund in upcoming funding bills.
- Ensure the Administration disburses funds already appropriated.
Millions of lives depend on these investments. Continued American leadership, backed by robust and fully realized funding, is essential to accelerate progress and save lives.
