To ONE’s Friends and Supporters:

I am pleased to announce that I am back at the ONE Campaign after serving as Coordinator for COVID Response and Health Security at the U.S. Department of State since April of this year.

I return full of gratitude – to our Board and the staff of ONE and (RED) for making it possible for me to have taken leave to assume that position; to Secretary Blinken for his leadership and the opportunity to serve in government once again; to Tom Hart for so effectively leading the organization in my absence; and to our teams around the world for working tirelessly to challenge the world to step up.

I also return committed, as I know you are, to ending this pandemic, and doing what it takes to ensure that year three of this crisis is its last. To that end, I am pleased to announce that Tom Hart will, after the first of the year, assume the position of President of ONE while I serve as CEO of ONE and (RED). Tom is a ONE original with years of experience in driving the fight to end extreme poverty, a deep knowledge of and experience in making change happen, and an undying commitment to ONE’s mission.

This new arrangement will enable us to drive and support a vibrant and effective organization while also expanding ONE’s engagement around the world – with partners and allies, in the public arena, and in debates and deliberations that yield decisions.

It’s been a tough two years, and we all face enormous challenges. But we also know that with commitment, facts, activism, and advocacy we can defeat this virus, reinvigorate the fight to end extreme poverty, and counter the inequality that has enabled this pandemic to upend the world.

Together, we’ll get there. From ONE and (RED), may you have a restful and restorative break, and we look forward to joining forces in the new year.
