George Clooney, Pat Robertson, Bono and Bob Geldof Help Take Over Weekend Television

Washington, D.C. – June 24, Pat Robertson and George Clooney go on ABC’s “Nightline” tonight to encourage Americans to join the more than 200,000 people who have written to President Bush asking for a breakthrough in the fight against extreme poverty at the G8 Summit July 6 – 8. They’ll ask Americans to go to http://www.ONE.org and sign the letter asking President Bush to support an historic breakthrough for the world’s poorest people at the upcoming G8 summit on July 6.

On Sunday, Bono of U2 goes on NBC’s “Meet the Press” to discuss the potential for a real breakthrough in the fight against poverty at the G8. And Bob Geldof appears on CBS’s “Sunday Morning” to talk about the Live 8 concerts and what they can do to help President Bush reach an historic agreement for Africa and the poorest people in the world.

“Americans want to hear about a war that is saving lives and winning friends for the United States. They want to know one quarter of a million people are alive because of the president’s AIDS initiative – and they want to know the President has a vision to do more,” said Jamie Drummond, executive director of DATA, a founding partner in ONE.

BUT WAIT … THERE’S MORE To make sure all of the decision makers in Washington, D.C., Houston and Dallas, Texas, get the point, ONE has bought time on ALL of the Sunday morning talk shows (“Meet the Press,” “This Week,” “Face the Nation”) to show the ONE.ORG spot, already seen by more than 100 million people.
