ONE reacts to Biden WHO re-engagement

WASHINGTON — The ONE Campaign issued the below statement following reports that President Joe Biden intends to re-engage the World Health Organization, a move that reverses former President Donald Trump’s efforts to terminate the longstanding US relationship with the WHO amid a global pandemic.

Tom Hart, North America executive director at The ONE Campaign:

“This is a strong signal of the Biden administration’s commitment to fighting this global pandemic.

“We’re glad the Biden administration will re-engage and strengthen the WHO instead of abandoning it. While imperfect, the WHO remains one of the best tools the world has to extinguish this global pandemic.

“In order to end this crisis at home and abroad, it’s imperative that the Biden administration and Congress work together immediately to support additional resources for the global response to COVID-19.”
