ONE Statement on Administration’s Budget Request
WASHINGTON – The ONE Campaign released the following statement on President Trump’s skinny budget request for Fiscal Year 2026, which proposes to cut over 83% of funding for State Department and International Programs from FY 2025 enacted levels, including lifesaving US foreign assistance activities.
“The cuts in the Administration’s budget proposal threaten lives and stability around the world,” said Elizabeth Hoffman, Executive Director for North America at ONE. “Reform to improve efficiencies and effectiveness is important, but only if done carefully and to avoid unintended consequences.”
“Through results-driven health and development programs, the US has built a reputation as a global leader – promoting American interests, keeping Americans safe from disease, and saving lives.”
“Congress plays an indispensable role in funding and overseeing these activities, which have long enjoyed bipartisan support. ONE urges Congress to protect funding for foreign assistance programs that have proven effective and efficient.”
