WASHINGTON– The ONE Campaign released the following statement on President Biden’s National COVID-19 Preparedness Plan, announced today, which reiterates the US’ ongoing commitments to global vaccine donations, resources to strengthen vaccine administration in low income countries, and access to testing and life-saving treatments.

“It’s good to see a significant piece of the President’s COVID strategy include fighting the pandemic globally. As we’ve seen again and again, this virus will mutate and travel around the globe quickly, impacting all of us. 

“We need to fund a robust response because, as the Administration has just laid out, we have every tool but time. We encourage President Biden and Congress to support $17 billion to fight the pandemic globally and prevent new variants from creating chaos here at home.  

“To date the United States has done more than any other nation, by far, in global dose donations and financial support. We must build on these foundations and hope that President Biden’s upcoming COVID Summit maximizes US leadership to galvanize a global response that meets the challenge.”
