The Afrika Fora is an organization that promotes and disseminates African culture, history, and innovation through its events. The organization aims to put African decision-makers at the center of conversations to change narratives. Their conferences and events bring together experts, artists, and policymakers from the African diaspora, who are actively involved in rebuilding relations between Africa and its partners. That’s what the Nzuko Festival is all about!
The event started on Friday, May 23 with an online conference on sovereignty, diplomacy, health, and development in Africa. This conference brought together influential voices from the African diaspora and continent, such as Chinwe Abuwa, Policy and Advocacy Officer for ONE in Africa, who moderated a roundtable about the future of health system financing in Africa.
On Saturday, May 24 our Youth Ambassadors attended an in-person festival, where they held a booth to highlight misconceptions about the African continent and promote a new narrative. To do so, our Youth Ambassadors organized games and quizzes, using a wheel of fortune or a true or false game.
Conferences were held throughout the day. Speakers included:
- Aloysius Anagonye, a visionary entrepreneur, former professional athlete, and leadership consultant dedicated to impacting business, sports, and wellness industries.
- PLO Lumumba, a Kenyan lawyer and activist. He is director of the Kenya School of Law and was director of the Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission from July 2010 to August 2011.
These exchanges were enriching and shed light on how to better integrate Africa on the international stage and consider it as an equal partner.
