Celebrating Africa Day by driving Canada-Africa impact beyond strategy

On May 23 and 24, ONE Canada co-hosted a landmark event with the African Impact Initiative at the University of Toronto to celebrate Canada and Africa’s deep and evolving relationship. The event featured interactive panel discussions, musical performances, cocktail networking time, and an African Impact Awards ceremony, all aimed at advocating for an action-oriented Canada-Africa strategy that engages diaspora leaders, policymakers, and other crucial stakeholders.

This event brought together leaders in academics, government, and the NGO space to work collaboratively on a strategy that ensures Canada-Africa relations become a priority issue. With contributing partners Operation Black Vote Canada, the Centre for African Studies (New College, UofT), and EFCCC, this event provided a vibrant space to inspire Canadians in diverse fields to uplift and amplify the African Continent.

The ONE Canada team developed a policy document that used hard-hitting data and visualizations to make the case for meaningful investments and trade partnerships with African countries. The document was distributed to all event attendees. If you want to read even further, our full data dive can be found here
