ONE Campaign reacts to Defence Investment Plan, partly funded by further aid cuts

LONDON, UK – 30 June 2026– Responding to the UK Government’s Defence Investment Plan, partly funded by a 1% capital cut across departments, including the Official Development Assistance (ODA) budget, Adrian Lovett, Executive Director for UK, Middle East and Asia Pacific at The ONE Campaign, said:

“After Keir Starmer’s devastating cuts to the Official Development Assistance budget last year, this further reduction will only deepen the damage for the world’s most vulnerable communities, who have already paid the price of the UK’s increased defence spending.

The next Prime Minister should not only focus on reversing the damage of recent international assistance cuts but on using the UK’s G20 presidency to deliver a more ambitious vision for global progress. One that strengthens partnerships and delivers a decade of change.”
