LONDON, UK – September 1, 2026 – The ONE Campaign has welcomed the Government’s decision to significantly boost UK funding for the Ebola response in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), after International Development Minister Kirsty McNeill announced a further £51.8 million in the House of Commons today, taking total UK funding to £78.7 million.

The announcement exceeds the £40 million the ONE Campaign had called on the Prime Minister to commit, as part of a campaign backed by a petition that has been signed by thousands since its launch last week.

Adrian Lovett, UK Executive Director of the ONE Campaign, said:

“This is a brilliant result, and a clear sign the government has been listening, not just to partners on the ground in the DRC but also to the thousands of ONE campaigners calling for action. Today’s announcement shows what’s possible when the public makes its voice heard in a crisis.

“This money can now be turned into contact tracers, treatment beds and protective equipment on the ground. We urge the government to work with health leaders and local partners to get it there as fast as possible.

“We asked the Prime Minister to redirect savings from the falling cost of refugee accommodation in the UK to meet this urgent humanitarian need. FCDO should not have to find these additional funds by further depleting its emergency reserves or taking funds from other vital programmes. We are seeking further reassurance on this point.”
