As President of Beedie, Ryan Beedie oversees one of the most successful industrial and residential property development companies in Canada.
A philanthropist at heart, Ryan is committed to making a difference in his community and beyond. Over the past decade, he has contributed and committed over $145 million to more than 350 organisations including: BC Children’s Hospital, Burnaby Hospital, the Greater Vancouver Food Bank, the YWCA, and the BC Institute of Technology. He has also chaired the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation Campaign, raising more than $100 million for a much-needed new medical and surgical centre in North Vancouver.
In 2011, Ryan and his father Keith contributed $22 million to his alma mater, Simon Fraser University for the Beedie School of Business. Ryan has continued supporting the university, co-chairing SFU’s $250 million Capital Campaign in 2013 and creating the Ryan Beedie Leadership Award in 2016.
In 2018, Ryan founded Beedie Luminaries, a program offering scholarships and wraparound support to promising students from disadvantaged backgrounds. To date Luminaries has awarded over $46 million dollars in scholarships and helped more than 1000 students attend life-changing post-secondary programs.
Ryan Beedie’s work has earned numerous awards and acknowledgements, among them the United Nations Association in Canada National Citizen Award (2025), the King Charles III Coronation Medal (2025), and the Order of British Columbia (2020). He has also received an induction into the Canadian Business Hall of Fame (2025) and the Business Laureates of BC (2025).
