Faith in Action

In the U.S., Africa Day falls on a Sunday — and ONE’s faith leaders will mark the day with special prayers and calls to action during worship services nationwide. Many of these churches have African ministry partners, and each congregation will take a moment to pray for their sister church, fostering solidarity and shared purpose across borders.
Host Your Own Celebration
May 16-26, 2025
Across the country, ONE advocates are partnering with local groups to host Africa Day celebrations or organize their own events. From Austin to Cleveland, Phoenix to Charlotte, and more than a dozen other cities, these gatherings will spotlight our legislative priorities and share stories of impact. Photo Exhibit on Capitol Hill
May 2025
On Capitol Hill, ONE will present a powerful photo exhibit showcasing the promise of smart investments in Africa — with images capturing transformative stories from the World Bank, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, and private sector initiatives. The exhibit will run on consecutive days in the House and Senate, featuring receptions and remarks from Members of Congress.

Events in Canada marking Africa Day
May 23–24 | Schwartz Reisman Innovation Campus, University of Toronto
Africa Day Canada 2025 – Beyond Strategy: Driving Canada-Africa Impact
This two-day convening will be co-hosted by ONE in Canada and the Africa Impact Initiative, in collaboration with the University of Toronto’s African Studies Centre, and with contributions from Grand Challenges Canada, Tribe Network, and the Afrodescendant Leadership Alliance.
This year’s convening is a catalytic moment to reimagine and reframe Canada-Africa relations. With a new federal government in place, these gathering aims to influence policy, elevate partnerships, and amplify the role of the African Diaspora in shaping Canada’s future engagement with the continent.
Beyond Strategy: Driving Canada-Africa Impact
Day 1 (May 23): Strategic Impact Forum & Policy Advocacy featuring high-level panels, cultural performances, and Impact Awards presentation.
Day 2 (May 24): Entrepreneurial Impact & Community Showcase with engaging panels, breakout sessions, a cultural marketplace, and calls to action.
SING! in Concert: Black Umfolosi

Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto
Black Umfolosi International, one of Africa’s most revered vocal groups, will perform a cappella songs in many languages of southern Africa, featuring almost non-stop dancing. ONE Canada Global Activists will attend to promote brand visibility.
Prayer Chain with Pastor Godman

ONE Canada staff will join Pastor Godman, a member of ONE’s Global Faith Council, in a solidarity prayer service for Africa.
