To coincide with the AU-EU Ministerial meeting which brings together African and European foreign ministers on May 21, ONE’s EU team will roll out a series of advocacy and communications initiatives:
May 15
A joint letter to AU and EU Commissioners and Ministers advocating urgent action on health financing and capital costs.
May 19
Youth Ambassadors will release an open letter focused on health financing ahead of the EU Development Ministerial on May 26.
May 15-19
Youth Ambassadors will participate in a Europe-wide social media campaign, sharing what Africa Day means to them.
May 25
A broader communications campaign leveraging market messages and an op-ed will amplify Ministerial outcomes and key messages.
France
Partnering with The AfrikaFora, ONE in France will take part in their Africa Week Nzuko, a vibrant festival celebrating African culture, history, and innovation, an awards ceremony and gala dinner.
May 23
A panel discussion featuring ONE’s work on global health financing.
May 24
Youth Ambassadors will host an interactive stand with global health-related games, a photography exhibit challenging stereotypes, and content creation for social media.
United Kingdom
Africa Day Celebration
May 19th
Youth Ambassadors, Staff, Alumni and Ubuntu circle members come together for an Africa Day celebration in the new UK office to enjoy music, food, culture, and collaboration. They shared ideas, flavours, and stories that challenged the single story and spotlighted Africa’s true potential.
Lobby Day & Africa Day Stunt
May 20
In partnership with leading NGOs, ONE will mobilize supporters for a Lobby Day opposing UK aid budget cuts. Outside Parliament, activists will create a striking visual stunt with placards reading “When you invest in Africa, you invest in…”, highlighting the continent’s contributions to innovation, health, tech, and more. Activists will also share stories through local media and radio.
