Yesterday’s solutions no longer work today
In 2013, the European Union decided on its maximum budget for the 7 years to come. Since then, the world has been confronted with new complex challenges, such as the ongoing refugee crisis.
We need additional resources to meet the needs of refugees while ensuring we don’t lose ground on the great progress made in the fight against extreme poverty. European leaders must think long-term and recognise that yesterday’s solutions no longer work today.
In the upcoming weeks, they will be discussing the budget for 2017.
Ask them to increase funds for both refugees and poverty eradication in the poorest countries.
Dear European Leaders,
The planned EU budget is no longer suitable for today’s world. Please increase the aid budget to both respond to the refugee crisis and meet the Global Goal to end extreme poverty by 2030, by especially focusing aid on the poorest countries.
