But we have the tools to win this fight. Just look at the bipartisan program PEPFAR, the President\u2019s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PEPFAR has helped save 25 million lives, provide more than 20 million people with life-saving antiretroviral treatment and ensure 5.5 million babies were born HIV-free.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PEPFAR\u2019s success over the course of its first 20 years is astounding. But <a href=\"https:\/\/www.state.gov\/pepfar-latest-global-results-factsheet-dec-2023\/\">new results<\/a> released by the program on World AIDS Day show how quickly those gains could be lost if the program is not able to continue its lifesaving work.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Assessing 12 high-disease-burden countries<sup data-fn=\"d3823914-64ae-4984-b35e-37dae87d0bb2\" class=\"fn\"><a href=\"#d3823914-64ae-4984-b35e-37dae87d0bb2\" id=\"d3823914-64ae-4984-b35e-37dae87d0bb2-link\">1<\/a><\/sup>, PEPFAR estimates that \u2013 from 2024-2030 \u2013 its projects will prevent:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>&nbsp;at least 5.2 million AIDS-related deaths<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&nbsp;6.4 million new HIV infections (including 1 million new infections among children)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More than 4 million children from being orphaned due to AIDS.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If PEPFAR was halted, AIDS-related deaths in those 12 countries are projected to increase rapidly by more than 400% by 2030.&nbsp; The number of children orphaned due to AIDS could double.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a fight we know we can win \u2013 if we recommit to programs and policies that work.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tell Congress today: We need a clean, five-year reauthorization of PEPFAR so we can keep up the fight against HIV\/AIDS.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-a89b3969 wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-text-align-center wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/go.one.org\/3Rlzq5r\">ASK CONGRESS TO REAUTHORIZE PEPFAR <\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.one.org\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/12\/pepfar-seal-1024x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-162943\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1;width:213px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.one.org\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/12\/pepfar-seal-1024x1024.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.one.org\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/12\/pepfar-seal-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/www.one.org\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/12\/pepfar-seal-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/www.one.org\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/12\/pepfar-seal-768x768.png 768w, https:\/\/www.one.org\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/12\/pepfar-seal-16x16.png 16w, https:\/\/www.one.org\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/12\/pepfar-seal-320x320.png 320w, https:\/\/www.one.org\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/12\/pepfar-seal-640x640.png 640w, https:\/\/www.one.org\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/12\/pepfar-seal-800x800.png 800w, https:\/\/www.one.org\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/12\/pepfar-seal-630x630.png 630w, https:\/\/www.one.org\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/12\/pepfar-seal.png 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>Want to learn more about PEPFAR?
