Read a quick history <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.one.org\/us\/blog\/pepfar-20\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">!)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Three takeaways from the letter: <\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>1) Faith Leaders Were Critical to PEPFARs creation<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Setting aside differences in service of a common goal is central to the creation and continued success of PEPFAR. 25 million lives saved from HIV\/AIDS would not have been possible without a group of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/billfrist\/2022\/12\/01\/how-a-rock-star-a-physician-legislator-and-an-evangelical-senator-bonded-to-help-end-the-global-aids-pandemic-a-backstory\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">unlikely allies<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, including the faith community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-160476\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.one.org\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/09130159\/PEPFAR_Gerson-1024x536.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"593\" height=\"310\" \/><\/p>\n<h4><b>2) Faith Organizations Continue to Contribute to PEPFARs Success<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The global faith community has been a critical resource in the implementation of PEPFAR on the ground in African countries. Faith organizations and leaders have a deeply rooted community presence, carrying a level of trust that, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.christianitytoday.com\/ct\/2023\/mayjune\/politics-saved-25-million-pepfar-anniversary-bush.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">in the early days of PEPFAR<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, was not guaranteed for a US aid program.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>3) Theres still more work to be done to end AIDS<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As we look back on 20 years of PEPFARs life-saving work, its important to note that the mission is far from complete. As the faith leaders note in their <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cdn.one.org\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/19154052\/Keeping-the-Faith-On-PEPFAR.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">letter<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, in a time when there is too much emphasis on what divides us, its important to rally around the tenets of faith that bring us together to do good for our fellow brothers and sisters. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Congress must reauthorize PEPFAR this year so it can continue its lifesaving work and finally finish the fight to end HIV\/AIDS for everyone, everywhere. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Want to learn more about PEPFAR?
