Bush signed the <em>US Leadership Against HIV\/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria<\/em> <em>Act<\/em>, forever altering the global fight to end preventable disease. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The bill authorized the program we now know as PEPFAR, which has helped save 25 million lives from HIV\/AIDS since 2003. When PEPFAR was approved by both chambers of Congress, then Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2003\/05\/22\/us\/15-billion-aids-plan-wins-final-approval-in-congress.html?searchResultPosition=1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">told the New York Times<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> that PEPFAR was a \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">truly historic leap that may very well turn the tide of this devastating disease.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">He was right.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ONE\u2019s new video tells the story of PEPFAR\u2019s first twenty years \u2013 and why it\u2019s so important to keep up the fight for the next. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"593\" height=\"334\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/7G9Hr6lbNk8?feature=oembed&#038;modestbranding=1&#038;showinfo=0&#038;rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As we celebrate PEPFAR\u2019s incredible success on the anniversary of its authorization, it is important to remember that the work is far from done.
