WASHINGTON \u2013 The ONE Campaign is pleased to announce the appointment of Edith Jibunoh<\/a> as its Global Policy Director. Edith has been with ONE since 2007, most recently serving as ONE\u2019s Director for Multilateral Institutions, in which she managed the organization\u2019s work with the World Bank, IMF, United Nations, Africa Development Bank and other institutions. Edith has been the lead for ONE\u2019s input into the process to define the framework that will follow the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) after their 2015 expiration.<\/p>\n

Edith joined ONE as Manager of African Outreach, during which time she built an extensive network of African policy makers, NGOs, private sector companies, media outlets, academics and artists. Among several of her innovative programs, Edith designed the popular ONE Africa Award which annually honors civil society groups exemplifying innovation in pursuit of the MDGs.<\/p>\n

ONE President and CEO Michael Elliott said:<\/p>\n

Edith has led our efforts to advocate for a new development agenda that is truly responsive to the needs of Africans, working tirelessly in UN negotiations and elsewhere for the next set of development goals.<\/p>\n

I’m really excited by Edith\u2019s vision for ONE\u2019s policy work\u00a0\u2013\u00a0to say nothing of the energy and passion she brings to everything she does. Her long career in\u00a0international development continues to be a huge asset for ONE and will help her guide us toward advocating for smart and effective policy solutions.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Edith\u2019s background is as a development economist dedicated to the analysis and strengthening of the continent\u2019s efforts to achieve equitable economic transformation. Before joining ONE, she was the economist in the Office of the Nigerian President, where she worked on the MDGs, and also served as an adviser to the Nigerian Minister of Finance. Edith has held positions in the World Bank\u2019s East Asia and Pacific Region and helped strengthen the World Bank\u2019s relationship with the United Nations during her time at the World Bank\u2019s UN Special Representative Office.<\/p>\n

In 2011, Edith\u2019s work was recognized by the African Leadership Institute when she was awarded the Archbishop Desmond Tutu Fellowship. One year later, she was designated a New Generation Leader for Africa by the Africa Leadership Network.<\/p>\n
