{"id":52813,"date":"2010-12-15T20:41:44","date_gmt":"2010-12-15T20:41:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/one.org\/us\/?post_type=one_press&amp;p=52813"},"modified":"2010-12-15T20:41:44","modified_gmt":"2010-12-15T20:41:44","slug":"one-statement-on-the-release-of-the-quadrennial-diplomacy-and-development-review","status":"publish","type":"one_press","link":"https:\/\/www.one.org\/us\/press\/one-statement-on-the-release-of-the-quadrennial-diplomacy-and-development-review\/","title":{"rendered":"ONE Statement on the Release of the Quadrennial Diplomacy and Development Review"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Washington, DC<\/strong>&#8211; ONE CEO David Lane issued the following statement on the release of the State Department&#8217;s Quadrennial Diplomacy and Development Review (QDDR):<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Today&#8217;s QDDR makes official what many have believed for some time &#8211; a strong national security strategy requires a development policy that strengthens the U.S. Agency for International Development and provides the manpower to deliver high impact, life-saving results.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In tough fiscal times, the business of development must be reformed to make the most of every dollar that America invests to help the world&#8217;s poorest.\u00a0 It must also increase transparency and improve governance so that progress is sustainable.\u00a0 The reforms outlined in the QDDR, in addition to ongoing efforts like USAID Forward, are central to making America&#8217;s development business model better.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;ONE applauds the move to focus leadership of the Administration&#8217;s two signature development initiatives &#8211; Feed the Future and the Global Health Initiative. We will now look to USAID to demonstrate its ability to deliver on the admirable and critical outcomes promised by these two initiatives.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>ONE is a global advocacy and campaigning organization backed by more than 2 million people from around the world dedicated to fighting extreme poverty and preventable disease, particularly in Africa.
