WASHINGTON, DC \u2014 <\/strong>The ONE Campaign<\/a> today announced that Phoenix Ricks<\/a> is joining the organization as Chief Communications Officer, effective September 21.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ricks brings more than 15 years of experience spanning global communications, public affairs, government relations and diplomacy across the private, public and social sectors. In her new role, she will lead ONE\u2019s global communications strategy, including media and public relations, digital communications, creative, strategic partnerships and events. Ricks also serves on the board of Social Current<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCommunications is at the heart of effective advocacy, and Phoenix brings exactly the combination of global perspective, strategic thinking and communications expertise we need for this moment,\u201d said Mark Green<\/a>, President and CEO of The ONE Campaign.<\/strong> \u201cShe understands how to navigate complex political environments, build bridges across sectors and turn big ideas into messages that move people. I\u2019m thrilled to welcome her to ONE as we work to build support for the investments and policy changes that can create healthier lives and greater economic opportunity across Africa.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ricks has built her career at the intersection of communications and geopolitics. Most recently, she founded Girl Friday<\/a>, a Washington-based global affairs firm helping multinational organizations understand geopolitical risk and develop communications and advocacy strategies. Previously, she led government relations and public affairs work for SHEIN<\/a> in the United States and PepsiCo<\/a> across Asia, Africa and the Middle East. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier in her career, Ricks served at the U.S. Department of State<\/a>, where she worked across public diplomacy portfolios, including digital diplomacy and programs supporting alumni of U.S. government exchange programs. Her work included helping develop the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) and Mandela Washington Fellowship, programs designed to support emerging African leaders in civil society, business and government. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
