WASHINGTON \u2013 The ONE Campaign released the following statement on the House Fiscal Year 2025 State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs (SFOPS) appropriations bill, which was marked up and passed out of the House Appropriations Committee today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the bill would preserve critical funding for key global health programs, including the President\u2019s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), it proposes significant, harmful cuts to other development priorities that would lead to a world unable to recover from the numerous complex challenges it is facing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWith a more than 11% cut from the 2024 enacted bill, the House\u2019s FY25 SFOPS appropriations bill doesn\u2019t include the resources needed to meet the moment of global crisis facing the world. We appreciate the Committee\u2019s dedication to protecting important funds for global health priorities like PEPFAR, but we are deeply concerned by significant cuts to other critical areas of US development assistance, particularly programs that strengthen economies and improve resilient communities. These dramatic cuts would not only fail to help countries seeking to recover from emergencies but could also risk pushing them towards other donors that do not share our values or priorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe need to look forward, not inward, to best confront our global challenges. We urge Congress to correct course.\u201d<\/p>\n
