WASHINGTON \u2013 The ONE Campaign released the following statement on the text of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs\u2019 FY2024 bill, which is approximately $150 million less than FY23 levels. This is an increase from the subcommittee\u2019s initial topline, thanks to a bipartisan agreement to secure additional emergency funding.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis bill is a step in the right direction and we appreciate the bipartisan work – led by Chairman Coons and Ranking Member Graham – to ensure Congress is making smart investments in foreign aid, <\/span>said Suzanne Granville, North America Executive Director at ONE.<\/b> \u201cBut we all know the <\/span>complex challenges we face globally at this moment will require greater commitments and ambition, which is why we urge Congress to support no less than FY23 levels and to consider providing supplemental resources to respond to the globe\u2019s emergency needs. Where and how the US makes its investment sends a strong signal to the world about US global leadership and the priorities that we value. It\u2019s vital for the global economy and security that we continue to show up to meet the extraordinary needs around the world. We thank the SFOPS Subcommittee leadership, as well as Chair Murray and Vice Chair Collins for their work. We will continue to work with our partners in Congress to ensure the US maintains its storied legacy of global leadership in the face of humanitarian and development crises.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
