President Trump&#8217;s final budget request for FY21 called for $44.1 billion for State and Foreign Operations, whereas Biden&#8217;s calls for $63.5 billion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><b>Tom Hart, acting CEO, The ONE Campaign:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cAmerican leadership is needed more than ever. The COVID-19 pandemic has set back decades of progress in our fight against poverty and preventable diseases, and more support will be needed to stem the aftershocks of this pandemic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWhile this budget is a good step forward, more is desperately needed to meet this critical moment and ensure we have the resources to adequately combat the crippling global impacts of COVID-19. For decades, bipartisan leaders in both chambers have worked together to expand and protect global health and development programs. We look forward to working with Congress to build on this proposal and ensure America\u2019s international development budget promotes our nation\u2019s values and advances our strategic global interests.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><b>BACKGROUND<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>President Trump\u2019s FY21 budget request included a roughly 20% cut to State and Foreign Operations. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The president\u2019s FY21 budget called for $44.1 billion, the FY20 enacted was $57.2 billion.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>President Biden\u2019s FY22 proposed budget request of $63.5 billion for State and International Operations represents a 11.9% increase the FY21 enacted.
