The agit8 campaign used protest songs to send a message that we will not be passive in the fight against extreme poverty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure style=\"aspect-ratio: 500 \/ 281;\" class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio has-aspect-ratio is-ratio--landscape\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"agit8: The Power of Protest Songs\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/PAcghmS7odI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-we-achieved\">What we achieved<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>ONE Champions from Africa and Asia were even able to speak directly to Prime Minister Cameron about the impact corruption and secrecy have on daily life in their home countries.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As a result of the agit8 campaign, ONE collected over 350,000 signatures for our G8 petition, which was handed in to President Barack Obama\u2019s administration in the US, to Prime Minister David Cameron in the UK, and President Fran\u00e7ois Hollande in France<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-we-did\">What we did<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To kick off the campaign, ONE hosted a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/playlist?list=PL6LFs_QnWsyvvoocvoTsdaLF2Ry_vUuYY\"><strong>two-day pop up concert in London<\/strong><\/a>. It featured over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.one.org\/us\/2013\/06\/13\/pretend-you-were-with-us-a-recap-of-our-live-agit8-concert-at-the-tate-modern\/\">two dozen artists<\/a> at the Tate Modern on the bank of the River Thames, including Paloma Faith, KT Turnstall, Jamie Cullim, and David Gray, who covered some of our favourite protest songs, like <em>Harrowdown Hill<\/em> by Radiohead and <em>Killing in the Name Of<\/em> by Rage Against the Machine.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ONE volunteers collected signatures for our petition to the G8, which asked leaders to commit to improving food security and increased transparency to help alleviate poverty globally.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We also teamed up with some of YouTube\u2019s most popular artists to form <a href=\"https:\/\/www.one.org\/international\/blog\/youtube-stars-come-together-with-protest-songs-for-agit8\/\">Come Together: The YouTube Project<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We also created ONE\u2019s Ultimate Protest Song playlist with ONE supporters favorite songs. ONE supporters voted for their favorite artists after watching videos from each musician.
