These investments help build infrastructure, increase first-time access to electricity, and create jobs.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The act brought Republicans and Democrats together on Capitol Hill. It was introduced by Senators Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) and Chris Coons (D-Del.), and Representatives Ted Yoho (R-Fla.) and Adam Smith (D-Wash.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-we-achieved\">What we achieved<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>President Donald Trump signed the BUILD Act into law in October 2018.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The act will allow American entrepreneurs and investors to invest in Africa and help create more jobs and promote economic development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-background has-neon-background-color oneorg-block-group oneorg-block-group-impact oneorg-block-group-impact--2 has-dark-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-dcf6d25ee9d990e9c0bc725ec20a2799 is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">Impact<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.one.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Partnerships_Icon_300x300-1024x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1291\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Promoting partnership and investment in Africa.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.one.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Funding_Icon_300x300-1024x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1268\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It will bring US$30 billion in private sector dollars into the fight against extreme poverty.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading no-border\" id=\"h-what-we-did\">What we did<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The bipartisan bill was backed by<strong> 78,000 petition signatures<\/strong>, which were hand-delivered to offices in every single state.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We brought <strong>19 <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.twitter.com\/ONEcampus\"><strong>ONE Campus leaders<\/strong><\/a> to Washington, D.C., for the 2018 Leadership Summit in July 2018.
