While Gayle Smith is on temporary assignment to the US State Department, Tom Hart is serving as acting CEO.
Tom has been with ONE since 2003. Prior to serving as acting CEO, Tom was the North American Executive Director and leads a professional, bipartisan team dedicated to proposing and passing government policies to fight disease, hunger and poverty, mostly in Africa. During this time, ONE has successfully advocated for governments and the private sector to raise a record-setting $14 billion for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB, and Malaria; push for the passage of the BUILD Act to increase private sector investment in Africa; worked with Congress to pass into law the Electrify Africa Act, and more.
Previously, Tom was the Senior Director of Government Relations at ONE. Before joining ONE, Tom was the Director of Government Relations for the Episcopal Church, USA, and an aide to Senators Alan Cranston and Jay Rockefeller.
