The U2 Innocence + Experience tour recently came to Chicago for 5 nights of awesome music, and we knew that it was a great opportunity to recruit new members to the ONE Campaign.

A super ONE supporter shows off his original ONE band (for the 2009-2011 U2 360 Tour) alongside the 2015 ONE band for this U2ieTour!
Each night of the tour we asked concert-goers to sign our petition for Poverty is Sexist campaign. This international petition tells world leaders to invest in economic opportunity and equality for women and girls across the globe. Women are disproportionately affected by extreme poverty, but they can also be a big part of the solution for ending it. Women must have a prominent place in the development agenda if we’re going to reach our goal to end extreme poverty by 2030. (You can learn more about the Poverty is Sexist campaign here.)

A ONE Volunteer explains the Poverty is Sexist campaign petition to a few fans chilling in the grass.
Dedicated ONE volunteers were out in force, engaging concert-goers everywhere from the concession stands to the Porta-Potty lines! Almost everyone was happy to talk with us, and when they heard about the great cause, they quickly signed the petition and joined as ONE members.

Fearless leader Tom Hart, ONE’s Executive Director for North America, chats with a ONE Volunteer Leader.
Despite being exhausted from 4 hours of campaigning, we were all excited for the opportunity to see the U2 show.

Near the end of the concert, Bono gave a shout-out to almost seven million ONE members and encouraged everyone who wasn’t a member yet to get involved!
Advocacy work can be tiring, and we were definitely exhausted after 5 action-packed days. But we’d all do it again in a heartbeat because the effort was definitely worth it! Over the 5 days we got 5,778 people to sign the petition and join the ONE Campaign in the fight against extreme poverty!
When we all stand as ONE, we have the power to make a great difference. Get involved today in the fight against extreme poverty by signing the petition and joining the ONE Campaign! You’ll be part of a global coalition of over 7 million people who are working to change the world.
And thanks to great events like the Chicago U2 tour, we’re growing stronger every week!
