As an advocacy organization, it would be hard to get somewhere in creating change around the world without our members. You use your voices every day to urge your elected officials to enact policies that help fight poverty and preventable disease. That’s incredible — and it’s why we’re so thankful for the hard work our U.S. members put in during 2017.
This Thanksgiving, we’re breaking down exactly why we’re thankful — by the numbers:
31,354: The number of petitions and letters collected by the 765 ONE volunteers during the U2 Joshua Tree North American tour.
263: The number of meetings held to support foreign aid during this year’s Power Summit.
147: The number of walk-ins in support of girls’ education on International Women’s Day.
56: The number of Letters to the Editor in support of foreign aid that ONE members got published this year.
4: The number of festivals — Lollapalooza, Shaky Knees, Bonnaroo, and Austin City Limits — where ONE volunteers collected more than 1,000 actions.
2: The number of members representing ONE at the top of the world on Kilimanjaro.
1: The number of pigs at one of our advocacy events!
Without a doubt, your creative campaigning and tireless efforts helped make this year one to remember. Thanks to each of our members for everything you’ve done this year to make a difference, from meeting with your elected official to simply signing a petition. ONE is thankful for every member around the world continuing to push for an end to extreme poverty. Happy Thanksgiving!
