In case you haven’t heard, Matt Damon is curating our ONE Girls and Women website throughout the entire month of June. It’s kind of a big deal. Not just because he’s an extremely talented and world famous Academy Award-winning actor, but because he is the co-founder of Water.org, a non-profit organization that is working to provide safe water and the dignity of a toilet for all.
Matt Damon and Gary White founded Water.org in 2009 with the mission of working within the water sector to create to new solutions, new financing models, greater transparency, and enhanced partnerships for long-term sustainable change. Since its founding, Water.org has provided access to safe water and sanitation to hundreds of communities in Africa, South Asia, and Central America—saving lives and transforming communities.
To see the impact clean water and improved sanitation can have on communities, check out these gorgeous photos from Water.org, taken in Ethiopia between 2009 and 2013. All photos and captions are courtesy of Water.org.
