Foreign aid makes up less than 1% of the total U.S. budget. But President Trump’s proposed budget cuts would slash foreign aid by nearly a third. That would drastically cut food aid for the most desperate people who are living in the middle of a famine, reduce the number of vulnerable children who will be able to access critical vaccination programs, and make less available life-saving HIV medications to those who need them most.
But he can’t make these sweeping cuts unless Congress approves them. We can make sure he doesn’t have the votes to slash the foreign aid budget—but we need your help.
What can you do? You can make sure that Congress gets the message that YOU, someone they represent, want to protect foreign aid.
It’s going to take lots of phone calls and messages: A few each week, from lots of us, to each member of Congress until we succeed in protecting this life-saving aid.
This is a marathon, not a sprint. That’s why we’re putting together a special team to make sure Congress knows they have constituents who oppose cutting back foreign aid. Each week, we’ll help you contact one—or all three—of your representatives. By speaking up to your elected officials, you’ll be helping to stop the cuts, protect foreign aid, and save millions of lives.
Those proposed cuts to foreign aid would curb the incredible progress we’ve made fighting extreme poverty. That’s why it’s time to make some noise, and lots of it. Joining the team and sending a clear message each week—be it through a phone call, email, or letter—will help stop President Trump’s dangerous budget from being approved. And that means the life-saving programs that help lift people out of extreme poverty can keep on running.
You can make a difference. Join the budget action team now.
