While the world has met the MDG for halving the proportion of people who lack access to clean water, 768 million people around the world still do not have access — 40% of them live in sub-Saharan Africa. The 2015 Sustainable Development Goals need to highlight water availability, quality, and water-use efficiency to quench our growing thirst and guarantee a healthy planet.
