Why we’re celebrating the COVID-19 pandemic’s birthday

Do you remember what you were doing on March 11, 2020? Whether you were watching Tiger King or celebrating Parasite’s Academy Award, that date will probably live in history books for a very long time.

That’s because March 11, 2020 was the day that COVID-19 was officially declared a global pandemic. A lot has happened in those two years — from putting blocks of feta into pasta and kicking off the Tokyo Olympics, to schools closing because of lockdowns and global poverty increasing for the first time in years.

Now, we’re in the third year of the pandemic.COVID has officially turned 2. But this birthday is one that we don’t want to celebrate next year. It’s time that global leaders stop being such “party poopers” and deliver on their promises to vaccinate the world.

Watch our video for a look back at the past two years. And demand leaders step up and finally vaccinate the world. Add your name to our petition to make this the year that we finally end the pandemic once and for all.
