We’ve asked a few of our favorite photographers and writers to share their stories, experiences and photos all month long to raise awareness about ONE’s Electrify Africa Act. Because photography means literally, “drawing with light” – we’ve launched a month long Blog Relay: Light for Light to talk about the importance of light – in global health, refrigerating vaccines, studying, running business and in photography.
{updated 7/30/15} Please read and share these beautiful, brilliant, and light-filled posts below.

It’s dark out now, but the sun was beautiful this evening when I snapped this. I was sitting in the car after doing a podcast interview over the phone. This month I’m jumping in and joining @onecampaign’s #lightforlight campaign. Each day, I’ll be sharing light filled photos to show support for the #electrifyafrica act which will bring electricity to over 50 million people in Africa for the first time. Want to join in & share your own? Sign the petition—http://bit.ly/1GStA0E, and then share your light filled captures, tagging them w/ #lightforlight #electrifyafrica. Easy squeezy! And be sure to check the hashtags frequently-they’re already filling up with beautiful photos. It would do my soul some good to see yours 😉✨

This is not an iPhone shot, but I’m making an exception. It’s one of my favorite light-filled photos I’ve ever taken, on the blog today for @onecampaign’s #electrifyafrica campaign. Please join in on that hashtag plus #lightforlight to encourage Congress to approve funding to provide electricity for 50 million people in sub-Saharan Africa. @onegirlswomen
