Currently living in Ireland, Obwaya’s passion for advocacy comes from her upbringing in Nigeria. Her personal knowledge of her home nation gives her determination to stand up and make change happen.
“Using my voice is powerful because I can actually have a voice for the voiceless. Having grown up in Nigeria, you know whether there’s a lot of crisis, health issues, no electricity, no water – people are living in abject poverty … I think I can actually stand in the gap for people who don’t have voices, and speak up and make a change for Nigeria.”
As a Youth Ambassador in Italy, Frederica understands the power that young people possess. She sees the strength in people her age, and hopes that they will use it to have a positive impact in the world.
“It’s tremendously important that young people use their voice to make sure that … our priorities are at the top of the agenda, and our future is the future that we want for ourselves, and not the ones that other people have chosen for us.”
Malik, a faith leader in the United States, believes in the power of unity. He takes ONE’s mission to heart, because he knows that we are stronger when we work together.
“ONE has helped me because as an individual there’s only so much I can do, but as a collective body there’s more we can do together. So I believe the concept of ONE is self-explanatory in the name itself that as one group or one people we can move things that we couldn’t do as individuals alone.”
