#GiveaGoat to a family in extreme poverty

This holiday season, we’re trying something TOTALLY new. We’re partnering with Heifer International to send goats to Africa.

Goats are kind of Heifer’s thing – and we’re proud to be working with them. They specialize in bringing sustainable agriculture and commerce to areas with a long history of poverty, and have programs everywhere from Nepal to South Africa. Their M.O. is to give families a hand-up, not a hand-out – and goats are a great way to do that.

For most people in the world, the only milk they drink is from goats. And one goat can produce up to one TON of milk a year. That means lots of healthy cheese and butter, milk to sell at the markets, and homemade fertilizer to make the crops grow.

That’s why this holiday season we’re asking our ONE members to #giveagoat. For just a few short months, ONE members have the option of giving a ONE Limited Edition Goat to a family living in extreme poverty in Africa. All proceeds from the limited edition ONE Goat will go to our partner Heifer International.

Giving a goat to a poor family is like giving someone a small business. It can mean the difference between struggling to get by and success — food, shelter, education and even a little bit of savings. And when families gain this new sustainable income, it brings new opportunities for the community, too. People can build schools, create agriculture cooperatives, form community savings and fund other small businesses.

Maybe a yearly ton of goat’s milk isn’t enough to convince you to buy a goat for yourself, but it SHOULD convince you to buy a goat for a family in extreme poverty.

Help us send a lot of goats to countries in Africa before the end of the year. Send the first one now.
