Action: 69. Time: 20 min. Difficulty: Easy.
We think that 2013 is sure to be one of the biggest years yet in the fight against extreme global poverty. This year, we’re seeking to hold G8 leaders accountable for their commitments to lift 50 million people out of poverty; fight for much-needed funding for the Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria; and push for greater transparency across the globe, all while advocating for American programs that save lives.
But we can’t do it without your help. Please email 5 friends right now and ask them to join ONE as part of your New Year’s resolution. Simply copy and paste the message below into an email.

Together as ONE we can make a difference!
Need proof that ONE members are helping fight poverty around the globe? Just take a look at these amazing numbers from 2012. Don’t be afraid to include some of these stats in your email when recruiting:
– ONE members delivered 143,000 petition signatures to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) earlier this year to support the passage of the Cardin-Lugar extractives transparency provision, which requires the 1,100 oil, gas and mining companies registered with the SEC to disclose their payments to US and foreign governments every year.
– 82,000 US ONE members signed our petition for Real Lives.Real Risk. to protect our investment in life-saving development programs, such as those that fight HIV/AIDS, childhood diseases, and hunger, by preserving the International Affairs account.
– 113,750 US ONE members added their names to our online petition to encourage world leaders to make measurable commitments to reduce chronic malnutrition for 25 million kids by 2016 so that they can reach their full potential.
Thank you for all you’ve done so far – each petition, letter and tweet really does count. We want 2013 to be an even bigger success. Please do ONE small thing today and email 5 friends, family members or colleagues and ask them to join you in the fight against extreme poverty.
After you have recruited five people, leave a comment with your feedback on the experience. Did anyone email you back? Were you successful in recruiting all five new ONE members? Did anyone respond negatively? Share it with us in a comment.
