A hog farmer, a brain scientist, a supermodel, and a lawyer -– not generally people you would find riding a common bus. But in less than 2 weeks, these women –- and more –- will meet up with moms in Ethiopia to share stories and learn from one another.

ONE Mom Blogger Karen Walrond on the trip to Kenya last year

Last summer the #ONEMoms were named “Persons of the week” by ABC News following their trip to Kenya, inspiring thousands to become ONE Moms and engage with the ONE Moms on social media.

On October 6, ONE Moms will set off for Addis Ababa and places beyond to meet with women and their families and see through their eyes the joys and challenges of raising a family in this East African nation. Along with the scientist, hog farmer and lawyer, the ONE Moms will also include a middle school principal, authors, photographers, food writers and mom bloggers from the US and the UK.

We will meet with women and girls, mothers and school kids, and visit clinics and farms. We hope you’ll come along with us –- like Asha did last year. The trip last year left an indelible impression on Asha: “The ONE Moms collaboration between and some of my favorite parenting bloggers touched me in a way no other project has. Seeing my friends — deeply caring, intelligent women — experience what life was like for many mothers and families in Kenya brought the common bond among mothers home in such a powerful way.”

Through the daily posting of our bloggers on the ONE Moms blog, Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, we hope you and millions of other moms will share our experience and learn what you can do to help Ethiopian moms give brighter futures to their children, their villages and their country. Our trip is all about success –- living proof of what is working and why it is so important that moms here and in Ethiopia connect to help all our families be healthy and have hope.
