This year marked the 25th anniversary of the Safeway Waterfront Blues Festival in Portland, Oregon, benefiting the Oregon Food Bank (OFB). The Festival is OFB’s single largest fundraiser and has come to be recognized as one of the premier music festivals in the nation. For just a $10 donation and two cans of food, attendees can see legendary performers, all in the name of fighting hunger. How can ONE not be a part of that?!

Oregon ONE members have made the Blues Festival part of their annual outreach efforts, and 2012 was a great year. We had sunny skies, great music and many festival attendees took the time to stop by the ONE table. Everybody could quickly understand the connection between the very important local work of the Oregon Food Bank and the equally important work of ONE — helping to fight hunger, poverty and disease on a global scale. We met a lot of great people and welcomed many of them as new members into the ONE community.

The 2012 Waterfront Blues Festival entertained more than 120,000 people with amazing acts such as Steve Miller Band, Booker T, Bobby Rush, and Charlie Musselwhite. Overall, the festival raised $902,000 AND brought in an estimated 116,584 pounds of food. Oregon ONE members congratulate the Oregon Food Bank on their 25th Anniversary festival and look forward to 2013!
