ONE members around the country are hitting the presidential campaign trail, engaging and educating the candidates on the fight against extreme poverty for ONE Vote.
Last week at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Albuquerque ONE members came together for ONE Vote 2012. The room was filled with excitement and enthusiasm to get involved in yet another successful ONE campaign. Many of the people who attended this event had participated in past ONE initiatives and wanted to get involved in ONE again. This was an amazing thing to witness: people wanting to reinvest in such a promising organization and try to make a change on the issues of extreme poverty and hunger.
Dr. Lance Chilton, a pediatrician who attended the ONE Power Summit in Washington, D.C. last April, was our guest speaker. Dr. Chilton spoke on his time spent in D.C., his dedication to immunization and the benefits of vaccines to save and better the lives of millions all over the world.
This opened up the door for some amazing discussion on why each of us were there at the event and what we hoped to get out of working with these issues. I was blown away by the amount of heartwarming and caring individuals who came out to the event. It was a great to hear from so many different groups in the community and so many different backgrounds and ages discussing these issues.
I have to give a special shout out to our photographer Carlos Navarro, who gave a great history of ONE and other partner organizations working toward the same common goal.
I was very honored to work and talk with each of these individuals that came out to the event and want to thank everyone for their contributions! We are excited about New Mexico!
You too can add your voice to ONE Vote 2012 by signing our petition and asking the candidates to tell us their plans to fight extreme poverty.
