Kate leads ONE’s Europe department, delivering our advocacy, campaigns and media objectives in France, the UK, Germany, Brussels, the Netherlands and Italy. Kate joined ONE in 2015 as Europe Communications and Advocacy Director, and she has led our external relations for several major campaigns and initiatives including Poverty is Sexist and the DATA Report.
Kate’s career in international development began in Zambia where she worked as an adviser to the Ministry of Education on a training programme for rural schoolteachers. She has since held senior roles at Oxfam GB and the UK’s Department for International Development where she led multi-disciplinary teams to deliver international summits, policy launches, and campaigns. Kate’s government experience also includes a secondment to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to establish and lead a new Syria Communications Unit in partnership with No10, regional policy teams, the Ministry of Defence and the Home Office. Before joining ONE, Kate was Communications Director for Girl Effect, which runs innovative behaviour-change programmes for girls and communities in Rwanda, Ethiopia and Nigeria.
