John Githongo is the CEO of Inuka Kenya Trust. He was Chairman of the Africa Institute for Governing with Integrity, Executive Vice Chair of the Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA), Chair and board member of the Africa Centre for Open Governance (AFRICOG), and Commissioner of the Independent Commission on Aid Impact (ICAI) of the British government.
Githongo served as Vice President of World Vision for Advocacy, Senior Associate Member, St Antony’s College Oxford, Permanent Secretary in the Office of the President in charge of Governance and Ethics of the Kenya Government, board member for Transparency International, Berlin, CEO Transparency International Kenya and a board member of the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC).
Previously, Githongo was a columnist for The East African, an Associate Editor at Executive magazine; and a correspondent for the Economist. He was also anchor/presenter of The Professional View talk show on the country’s government-owned television station, the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC). He remains a regular contributor for the Star in Kenya and occasionally for other international press such as The Guardian and YaleGlobal. He is also a regular commentator on Kenyan affairs in the Kenyan and international media. In his private time, he has served as an anti-corruption advisor to governments, multinational firms and NGOs.
Githongo holds an Honours degree in Economics and Philosophy from the University of Wales and an Honorary Doctorate from the Open University.
