This is a guest blog from Italian Youth Ambassador Mauro.
Last week, during #WorldFoodDay, Italian Youth Ambassadors and some good friends ran – and walked – in the gorgeous frame of Rome, spreading only one goal: ending hunger by 2030!
The purpose of the Zero Hunger Run, organised by the UN Agencies based in Rome (FAO – Food and Agricultural Organisation, IFAD – International Fund for Agricultural Development, and WFP – World Food Programme), is to raise public awareness on the second of the 17 Global Goals adopted in 2015 by the UN: Zero Hunger!
Among those who competed running 10km and those who walked or ran for 5km, we speak with one voice and we go forward the same way; that’s the right mood to make our goal come true: we need #ZeroHunger by 2030!
Despite being very tired – and sweaty! – at the end of the run, it was extremely motivating and inspiring seeing such a big group of people from all backgrounds, extractions and paths in life showing their commitment to ending hunger and to guaranteeing a dignified life for everybody on this planet. Thanks to every one of you who joined us Youth Ambassadors in this fight!
As ONE activists, we work every day to spread the knowledge of our campaigns, and what better way to do it than running around the streets of our city? A perfect combination of sport, fun, culture, awareness-raising and only one thought: let’s run to make hunger history!
Yes – I must admit that all of my body is aching today. Nevertheless, I am looking forward to repeating this amazing experience next year and to showing once again my commitment to such a noble cause!
