Thanks to actions by ONE members, European ministers just re-confirmed a long-held promise to spend 0.7% of national budgets on aid. That’s great news, but as well as investing enough in fighting poverty, it’s also crucial that it reaches the right people.
When they meet in Addis Ababa next week for the Financing for Development conference, European leaders must make sure at least half of aid is going to the very poorest countries, and that girls and women are prioritised in all their plans.

These big global meetings happen behind closed doors and often out of the media spotlight, so it’s easy for our representatives to feel like no-one’s paying attention. That’s where you come in.
We need them to feel the pressure of tens of thousands of people, like you, who are counting on them to do the right thing. Who will hold them to account for their actions, and keep pushing until we get real progress for the poorest people in the world. When they walk into those meetings, make sure your voice is ringing in their ears.
