Seven reasons why ONE Youth Ambassadors truly ROCK

Seven reasons why ONE Youth Ambassadors truly ROCK

Today is International Youth Day – the day we celebrate the creativity and innovation that young people bring to society!

This is something that’s very close to our hearts at ONE, as we see it every day in our Youth Ambassador programme.  Across Europe, 250 young activists campaign locally, nationally and online to carry out the fight against extreme poverty.

Spanning Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, and the UK, the young people who volunteer to campaign with us are incredibly diverse, but they have a few things in common – and that is what we want to celebrate today.  Here, we share seven reasons why ONE Youth Ambassadors rock!

Reason 1: They’re committed

Reason 1 - They're committed

Dutch Youth Ambassador Elvira Meiboom walked 33km BAREFOOT from her hometown to Schiphol airport on the way to the G7 summit in June – now that’s what we call commitment!

Reason 2: They’re creative

Reason 2 - They're creative

To mark World Malaria Day in April, Belgian Youth Ambassadors got their creativity hats on and made a whole bunch of inventive things: life-size mosquito costumes, dance routines, mosquito-themed bowling games…the list goes on!

Reason 3: They’re loud

Our Youth Ambassadors certainly know how that the first step to getting their voices heard is by making sure they are LOUD! And our Youth Ambassadors sure know how to be loud…check out the clip above (00.08-00.16) to see – and hear – some true decibel action from the Germans…

Reason 4: They know what they want

Of course, you can’t just be loud – you have to have a clear message too. Check out our British Youth Ambassadors calling on G7 leaders to take action against extreme poverty.

Reason 7: They know how to have fun

Campaigning to change the world can be pretty hard work – but luckily our Youth Ambassadors know how to let their hair down and celebrate the good moments, too! Here are our Italian Youth Ambassadors rocking out at the United Against Poverty concert in Munich back in June.
